With Wisconsin being known as the dairy state, I knew I'd see lots and lots of farms....I did.
Neat little restored old school house.
As I neared Illinois, I also ran into more signs of heavier population...like Six Flags Great America, just North of Chicago. - - - It reminded me of days when I was in the Air Force in California and I used to go to Six Flags Magic Mountain in my old VW, which only had 3 of the 4 cylinders working properly.
The Chicago Skyline ws pretty impressive. Please note that the lighter traffic shown was just minutes after stop-and-go traffic for about 15 miles...due to some driver of a small car thinking he didn't need to worry about the semi-tractor-trailer next to him when signs said to merge right to one lane of traffic. The semi driver could have easily squashed the small car, but ended up running off the road. Since the truck was carrying fuel, traffic had been stopped until emergency personnel could ensure no danger of fire existed.
Hancock Tower shown with the 2 large antenna.
While similar in appearance (to the Hancock Tower), the Sears Tower building used to be the tallest building in the world for a short period of time. - - - Pretty awesome view as I entered Chicago from the North.
Here's the view I had as I entered the Chicago Skyway bridge, which took me toward the Indiana toll road. - - - While it cost me a few bucks, the lack of traffic was well worth it...and the condition of the roads, while bad, were still LOTS nicer than those I experienced in New York and New Jersey. (My teeth still shake when I think about the potholes!)
