Take Me Out to the Ball Game - Go Cubs Go

May 28th - Today marked another special event on the trip. My Nephew (Jon), his wife Renee, their Son (Evan), Renee's Sister (Patricia), and I all to watch the Chicago Cubs play their rival...the St Louis Cardinals. As it turned out, it was a GREAT game, IF they wouldn't have counted the 1st inning. The Cardinals came out hitting and had a 5-0 lead at the end of the 1st. So, since the weather was nice, the beer was cold, and it was Evan's first game, we focused on more entertaining things...even though it was great to be at the game. - - - These first few pictures are from the drive to the stadium. (I have a lot more pictures of the buildings, but will include some of those in a blog I'll do next week...as we're going to take a boat tour of the city.

One a several beautiful pictures I took as we drove on Lake Shore Drive.

The following include a variety of shots. - - - These first few pictures show the outside of the stadium; the inside of the stadium; and finally, some of the players.

This next group of pictures are a vareity of shots, both inside and outside of the stadium. - - - The first couple were taken by the Ernie Banks statue...a famous Cubs player.

Since this was Evan's 1st trip to a cubs game, we had to get lots of pictures, including the ones where he got his official certificate showing his attendance of his 1st game.

Tribute statue of Harry Carey, the famous Cubs announcer.

Evan was ready to get his certificate.
More shots inside the stadium.

Uncle Tom and Evan keeping score...and the two "big boys" crunched together for a self-portrait with Evan.

Evan making sure his suntan lotion was all rubbed in.

Hey Evan...how's that apple? I think the verdict is still out if it's just juicy, or juicy and sour.

Well, I hope to have some more nice pictures to post after this Memorial Day weeked as my Brother and I are off to Indianapolis to watch the Indy 500 race tomorrow. Even though we both lived in Indiana for many years, we've never been to the race before. - - - Hope everyone has a wonderful and safe weekend....and remember to show your American pride.
