April 21st and 22nd - I apologize for the 1st picture being so hazy, but it was raining pretty hard and there was LOTS of humidity in the air when I took the picture of John outside the General Dynamics building in Chantilly, VA. - - - For those of you that saw one of my first blogs, you can relate to the fact that I was EXTREMELY happy the wipers were working in the rain. - - - The remaining pictures were taken in Chester Gap, Virginia. - - - It was a perfect day to take the drive and to show Kathy (John's other half) the car. I also think Kathy was just as excited to see the Corvette as I was to show it. - - - Oh yeah, Kathy got a little feel for Corvette fever when I took the car to a little higher RPM in 3rd gear. (Isn't horsepower fun?!)
I've always dreamed about taking a road trip where I could visit many areas of the country and see family and friends. - - - Now that I'm retired from the Air Force and General Dynamics (2 wonderful careers), my dream is becoming a reality and will begin on March 24th, 2010. - - - I leave Colorado Springs and begin driving East in my 1963 Corvette that I've owned since 1973. The car has been rebuilt to be a "driver" and work includes a body-off-frame reconditioning; a new suspension system; many upgrades; new wiring; a new interior; a new convertible top; and a 327 power plant that develops something over 375 horsepower. - - - I've got many exciting things planned during the trip and plan to post data about each stop. - - - Major stops will include Missouri; Indiana; Kentucky; Virginia; Maryland; Massachusetts; Nova Scotia; Michigan; Indiana (again); and Nebraska before I return home in late June or early July. - - - The trip is dedicated to my wife (Barb) and my Sister (Karen) as cancer survivors. - - - I hope anyone reading my blog or viewing the pictures will find it interesting. - - - The whole trip is estimated to be somewhere between 8,000 and 10,000 miles.
