Pictures from Corvette Show at the Marriott

April 10th - This is my 3rd post of the day, and final post from Florida. - - - After taking my Nephew (Matt) to the airport early today, then getting a little more sleep, I noticed a sign (by the entrance to the Marriott) that indicated there was a Corvette show being held in a private parking area (at the Marriott). - - - The pictures below show some of the beautiful cars I got to see. - - - I fly back to Indianapolis later tomorrow, then plan to meet my Brother (Dave) and his wife (Beth) for breakfast on Monday...then get back on the road and head toward Bowling Green, Kentucky to visit the Corvette Museum and GM plant that builds the Corvette. - - - - - - - - - The first 2 pictures below show a small sample of the Corvettes included in the show. - - - There was somewhere between 50 and 75 cars. (I loved it!)
To start off the viewing, there was this beautiful Corvette that was built to raise money and awareness of cancer. The effort, initially started by Sandy Labaree, is being continued by her husband, Ben Labaree, after Sandy lost her battle with cancer. There is an interesting story associated with the loss, and I recommend everyone read about it at www.corvettesconquercancer.com. After talking to Ben, he indicated that the Colorado Springs Corvette Club may have a similar effort...so I'd love to hear more from any of our CSCC members that can provide me details.
The 3 pictures below show a beautiful Indy Pace Car and the engine compartment. I believe this is the first one I've seen, and thought it was an awesome color combination.

The two pictures below show a unique "GT1" Corvette. (Amazing...)
While I love the look of the engine compartment in my '63, I was in awe of some of the gorgeous engines and compartments in this car show. WOW! - - - To start, here is a couple shots of a 2003.
Here are couple pictures of a Grand Sport that was amazing...not only the engine, but also the paint on the underside of the hood.
Below are a couple photos of a 2008 Limited Edition Z06.

Finally, here's a picture of another Z06 that had been built as a pure racing machine. I thought the display (with guitars) was pretty unique.

Hope you enjoyed these pictures even a fraction of how much I enjoyed seeing the cars and talking with a couple of the owners.
