May 12th - Had a very interesting and fun day...from a unique perspective. It started as I continued driving West through Canada. - - - As lunchtime neared, I pulled into a small town and stopped at a Mexican food restaurant. As it turned out, they had the Stanley Cup on display, so I asked if I could get my picture taken with it. Since I'd already been talking to the owner about my Vette, he said "sure, let me get the trophy for you." What's the odds?!!!! Oh yeah, it wasn't real...but it sure looked pretty good huh?!

This next picture captures something I still have a hard time believing. While in Sudbury, Ontario, I went to a saloon at the Radisson Inn hotel...to watch the Pittsburg and Montreal hockey game. As it turned out, a number of people came into the pub to watch. Then, while sitting at the bar, everyone was slowly noticing my "funny" accent and asked where I was from. For whatever reason, most all assumed that being from the States meant I was there to cheer on Boston or Pittsburg. While that may have been correct, I just told them I was there for the beer and about my road trip. That certainly made a hit. As we talked more, everyone talked about why we were in Sudbury. - - - From left to right in the first picture below was: 1. Stephan from Ottawa. He was there to teach a presentation on substance abuse. 2. Me. Well you know about me. LOL. 3. Mike from Toronto. He sells insulation and was there to make a presentation. 4. Steven. More to follow. - - - After becoming more friendly as the hockey games progressed, we started talking about the need to hit a pub or two before the night was over...to celebrate the coincidence of us all meeting....and THAT is where we met Steven. - - - The first pub we went to was and Irish pub called "Peddlers"...and there was Steven, holding up the bar. One of us started the conversation, but then he bought the first round and the rest was history. Steven was from Niagra Falls and travels Canada servicing the electronics in slot machines at many of the casinos. After having a couple drinks at Peddlers, we went to another local handout called the "DogHouse." It was packed so we struck up a conversation with the people at the table we were standing by. As it turns out, Walter (in the 2nd picture) was a pretty famous local. He had just sold a long-standing sports bar and further conversation led to the discovery that he knew a lot of the pro hockey players on a more personal level. He was VERY nice and asked how we knew each other. He was shocked that none of us knew each other before that night. However, when he heard my story, all he could say was "Good F_ _king Night." He must of said it 20 times, and after each time, he'd look at me, offer to shake my hand, then say "F _ _ king Amazing." When we left, he wished us all luck. - - - I'd had enough fun so I decided to head off to my hotel. Needless to say, I slept in the next morning.
